Then, MDKC member Rodica Stoicoiu forwarded an article by Jane Williams for publication in the January 2007 "American Family Voice". The article raises the issue of safety studies on chips that are inserted into animals. Could it be that implanted microchips cause cancer?Unfortunately, the studies quoted in the article, with a single exception, were conducted on mice. These studies suggest cancer tumors at the site of the microchip implant.
While we cannot extrapolate that the mice studies translate into cancer risks for dogs, we need to be aware that there are always risks when foreign objects enter a dog's body. More research studies are needed before conclusions are made.
Keep thinking. Stay informed. Ask questions. Remember, our four legged creatures are innocent and depend on us for good health.
