going to the dogs...
the
blue and gray cluster

What an exciting show at Harrisburg! Four days of outstanding dogs, judges and clubs. The Blue and Gray Cluster is, indeed, a highlight of the dog show year. Our club did an incredible job presenting the Sunday show.
Despite the fact that it was Easter, and 6:30 AM, club members were on board for various tasks: breakfast for the judges, tickets, catalogs, breed trophies, ring set-ups, Meet the Breed, etc. Club members in gray blazers with Mason and Dixon KC logos were quite spiffy indeed. It was exciting to see them throughout the day.
The vendors presented an array of beautiful dog related items. This show has the reputation for great shopping and no one was let down this year! Did you get a chance to see the dog banks? Very cool.
The Meet the Breed event was an absolute hit. (Read some of the thank you notes at the end of this article). It was warmer and more welcoming than any of the other days. Books, charts, photographs, real live dogs and many visitors added to the absolute enjoyment of the moment. More than 20 breeds were represented throughout the day.
Excerpts from thank you notes: …We had a ball and the public was SO appreciative of the opportunity to come in and learn about these breeds; I was personally impressed with the variety of materials, pictures, doggie tricks the other volunteers came up with to engage people with their breeds, get them to pay attention to the important info. It was wonderful!..
….Our two fuzzy representatives had a great time meeting folks even though we had to share the spotlight a bit with Rufus. Thank so much Suzanne for all your hard work. I will bet you are totally worn out!...
…Keystone Greyhounds/Greyhound Pets of America wants to thank you, too, for the invite…. We had such a nice time in the Meet the Breeds ring. It was very relaxed and casual, and there was lots of interest in our retired racers. Hope to see everyone there again next year…
…Thanks for all your hard work in organizing this event! The Delaware Valley Bullmastiff Club members had a wonderful time at the Meet the Breeds with our bullmastiffs. Our five bullies of all ages and colors enjoyed all the petting and compliments, and were unfazed when two little French bulldogs hopped over to join the big bullies! The public really seemed to enjoy the chance to meet, touch and ask questions. We are looking forward to participating next year. Great event and great show! Thanks again!

thank you from

and Gray Cluster:
Gosh......I'm
so thankful to each of you for showing up and making such a hit of this
event!!! The rings were full of folks every time I walked by and although I
lost my voice on Thursday night (talk about timing!!)....I thoroughly enjoyed
the entire weekend. I heard many, many positive remarks from the general public
and even from the judges about our Meet the Breeds event.
I truly appreciate all your participation and your flexibility with the scheduling, especially those of you who did indeed share the ring with Rufus, the BIS winner from Westminster.
I am so thankful to all the participants......it really did go well and the dogs & puppies were such great ambassadors!!....Mason-Dixon really did the best job with the "welcoming" atmosphere of the ring and so many breeds and displays! I hope we can encourage the same response for next year!
THANKS SO VERY MUCH for taking time from your busy show schedules and lives during Easter weekend. It was very gratifying seeing the public inside the ring, asking questions and interacting with your dogs and puppies.
